OKCU Professors Assess Economic Impact of Wind Energy Project

Clean Line Energy and GE Energy Connections join forces

Clean  Line  Energy and GE Energy Connections (NYSE: GE) today announced their collaboration in the development of America’s largest clean energy infrastructure project, the Plains & Eastern Clean Line. The transmission project will be the first overhead high voltage direct current (HVDC) project in the U.S. in more than 20 years. GE has been selected as the exclusive provider of the HVDC converter stations, paving the way for the company’s first HVDC project in the U.S. since acquiring Alstom’s energy businesses in 2015. - 11/1/2016

Department Of Energy Approves Largest Clean Energy Infrastructure Project In U.S.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a Record of Decision (ROD) approving the Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission project. DOE’s decision marks a critically important step towards the construction of America’s largest clean energy infrastructure project. The $2.5 billion project—100% funded by private investment—will support thousands of jobs in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee, including hundreds of manufacturing jobs in those states. After nearly six years of study and evaluation, DOE notes that the project merits the Department’s participation and designates a preferred route for the transmission line in Oklahoma and Arkansas. - 03/25/2016

Plains & Eastern Will Decrease the Cost of Electricity Production In Arkansas

Leidos, a national leader in energy research, conducted an analysis of the impact of 500 megawatts (MW) of wind power delivered by the Plains & Eastern Clean Line to the Arkansas electric grid. The study showed that the Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission project will significantly decrease the annual cost of electricity production while reducing air pollution in Arkansas. - 02/4/2016

Researchers from the Center for Business and Economic Research at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas have published a study that states the construction and operation of the Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission project will mean more than $660 million to the economy of Arkansas. - 11/17/2015

DOE Releases Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line

DOE’s release of the Final EIS marks a key milestone for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line. The Final EIS presents a thorough analysis comparison of the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project, responds to public comments DOE received regarding the Draft EIS, and identifies DOE’s participation in the project through Southwestern Power Administration as its preferred alternative.  - 11/4/2015
