CLEAN LINE ENERGY SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH FLUOR TO SUPPORT 800 MILE HVDC TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT

FluorPlains and Eastern Clean Line LLC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Fluor Corporation designating Fluor to provide development support and engineering, procurement and construction services (EPC) for the first phase of the Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission line project.  As part of the MOU, Fluor—with Pike Electric Corporation as a subcontractor to Fluor—will provide initial permitting and EPC development support services for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line.   The MOU contemplates that after the project has received all permits and regulatory and financial approvals, Fluor and Pike will provide the full EPC services for the first phase of the approximately 800-mile overhead high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) transmission line, which will allow for the delivery of 3,500 megawatts of power and interconnect approximately $7 billion of new clean energy projects. Clean Line believes that new electric transmission and wind generation in such close proximity to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee manufacturers will increase business opportunities for companies in those states. Clean Line and Fluor are committed to using qualified local and regional contractors under the proposed EPC arrangement. Clean Line encourages local and regional contractors interested in working on the construction and maintenance of the transmission line project to submit their business information by clicking here.

CLEAN LINE ENERGY SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITy

We are pleased to share some good news from Tennessee regarding the Plains & Eastern Clean Line. The project will deliver clean energy from western Oklahoma, southwest Kansas, and the Texas Panhandle to Tennessee, Arkansas, and other eastern markets.

Clean Line recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tennessee Valley Authority TVA. The purpose of the MOU is to identify the full range of benefits that high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission projects may provide to TVA’s stakeholders. This new MOU takes Clean Line a step closer to connecting low-cost clean energy to consumers across the Mid-South and Southeast regions. TVA is a national leader in the US utility sector and a key driver for continued economic growth in Tennessee and throughout the Southeast.

We are also pleased that the Memphis, Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) Division Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution that supports the development and implementation of clean energy transported by HVDC transmission to western Tennessee. Working with MLGW—the Memphis area municipal utility and TVA's largest customer—Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission project will build on Memphis’ heritage as “America’s distribution center,” and help position Memphis as a 21st century hub for clean energy distribution in the Southeast.

These two milestones highlight growing interest in facilitating the use of cost effective, clean energy sources. Leaders in the Southeast are taking concrete steps to enhance the region’s economic prospects and competitiveness. The Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission project will bring significant public benefits including improving energy security, enabling the development of thousands of megawatts of clean power, creating thousands of jobs, and providing cleaner air and water. You can read more about these milestones in the press release posted on the Plains & Eastern Clean Line website.

GENERAL CABLE AGREEMENT

General CablePlains & Eastern Clean Line and General Cable signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an order worth around $100 million, based on current commodity prices. Orders for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line high-voltage conductor cable would keep the current 152 associates at the Malvern, Arkansas plant busy for almost two years. At a press conference announcing the agreement, Gregory J. Lampert, President and CEO of General Cable North America, said “our facility and our associates in Malvern can take pride in knowing that the product they make will, in part, stay right in their state of Arkansas for this Clean Line project—improving the infrastructure of their state and strengthening its economy.”

Clean Line looks forward to partnering with additional companies in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and other states to deepen Plains & Eastern Clean Line's contribution to economic development.

CLEAN LINE AND PELCO STRUCTURAL…WORKING TOGETHER TO STIMULATE OKLAHOMA'S CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY

PelcoWe are pleased to announce that Pelco Structural will be a preferred supplier for the tubular steel transmission structures that will be used for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line transmission line project. The Plains & Eastern Clean Line will deliver wind energy produced in western Oklahoma, southwest Kansas and the Texas panhandle to consumers across the Mid-South and the Southeast regions. Clean Line's potential future supply order from Pelco could be worth $300 million or more depending on commodity prices and the amount of structures purchased.

We are pleased to contribute to the Oklahoma economy by creating thousands of permanent and construction jobs; enabling billions of dollars of additional investments in new, low cost clean energy projects; and providing property tax revenues for local communities and schools. Under the agreement, Pelco will supply structures from its facility with approximately 100 employees in Claremore, Oklahoma. The transmission structures for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line will be manufactured within the states that the project crosses and raw materials will be sourced from local companies as much as possible.
